I very much enjoyed that segment, Susan, and I agree with much of what all three of you said on the topic. Especially agree with you that as we get older, we realize that wasting time is a Bad Idea, and start to pare down to the good stuff in our lives.

It's funny because I was just thinking about one-sided friendships this week. A woman I know from a volunteer board I serve on has been drawing closer to me this year. I admire her and basically like her personality, but she is a Me Me Me conversationalist. This is starting to become more than annoying. I have decided to keep the nascent friendship extremely casual and not to feel guilty if I don't accept all of her invitations to grab a bit to eat and chat (which means she talks, I listen), etc. I would actually enjoy having more friends at this stage of life, but I want to be just a bit selective. (And of course, I'm such a prize -- ha ha!)

You looked amazing as usual. :-)

You know i don't think you ever have to feel guilty about your choices! And as for new friends, it is hard when you are not working or in school...but they should be uppers...not downers!

I watched the clip and I love, love, love that topic. It doesn't explored nearly enough. All three of you ladies were wonderful and made some excellent points.

In recent years I've had to let go of a few long time girlfriends because being around them was hurting me. Either they were absorbed in addictive relationships, work-a-holics, or had become extremely bitter. Life is too short for me to be unhappy.
