The search continues

All of my Dear Readers from the last two years of the column know that I have been looking for the new husband without much success. I decided to call it Mr. Adequate because The Prince does not exist and yet, truth be told, I want someone more than adequate..."no perfect" exists, I know, I know.
But I can't even meet anyone to rate! I went to two fancy parties this week, and while it was great to wear my long gowns and good jewelry, it would have been nice to at least see a prospect or two. Nada!
And when one very bright married seat mate said to me, "I can't believe you can't find anyone, " I asked him point blank: Who do you know? And he couldn't think of anyone. So you see....the search goes on. Sigh. But I did have a good time at the parties and that counts for something. Doesn't it?

Aw, shoot. Where have all the men gone anyway? I'm still rooting for you, Susan. Maybe The One will take you by surprise someday soon.

Susan, keep looking, you deserve the best! The One will come when you least expect it.

The fascinating thing about it from my perspective is how Susan keeps excluding me from the running. She does it on purpose, I'm convinced.

I was never in the running for Mr. Adequate because I'm slightly more than adequate. Now she says she wants someone more than adequate - leapfrogging over 'slightly more than adequate' me.

I'm overqualified, I'm underqualified. In the blink of an eye I go from being a real catch to being Charlie the Tuna.

I recently signed up to JDate and I'm not even Jewish. It is tough to find a good man. Truthfully, I gave up looking a while ago but I figured I might give it another try. I have never been married and at 44, I want what I want- someone really, really adequate ya know?
